Crispy Green is celebrating a meaningful milestone this month: our 10th year supporting families in Bloomfield, New Jersey, through the annual Feed the World on the Green program at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church. This longstanding community initiative has become a trusted resource for residents across Bloomfield, Montclair, Newark, Glen Ridge, and Essex County, especially as food prices rise and SNAP adjustments continue to affect families.

This year, the need was apparent—attendance surged, and more families sought support as they headed into Thanksgiving and the colder months.

Mission Spotlight: Using Food as a Force for Good: Our work is driven by the belief that nutritious food should be accessible to everyone.

Serving Bloomfield, NJ: Thanksgiving Meals Made From Scratch for Local Families

The Crispy Green team came together once again to spread warmth and gratitude this season.

In partnership with the Feed the World (FTW) program at Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green, we sponsored, prepared, and served early Thanksgiving meals for local families in need.

Led by our CEO, Angela Liu, who also served as the event’s master chef, our team prepared more than 50 fresh, wholesome meals from scratch—a labor of love that brought our mission to life in the most personal way.

The homemade Thanksgiving menu Included:

  • Butternut squash soup with a dinner roll
  • Roasted turkey
  • Smashed sweet potatoes
  • Green beans
  • Gravy
  • Cranberry crumb tart for dessert

The kitchen was hot, the energy was high, and the experience was filled with teamwork, joy, and purpose. Knowing that these delicious, high-quality meals brightened someone’s Thanksgiving made every moment worth it.

“Together, we’re not just feeding people—we’re sharing hope and kindness,” says Liu.

Why This Work Matters: Food Insecurity Is Rising in NJ & NC

Food banks across New Jersey and North Carolina continue to report increased demand heading into winter. Rising costs and SNAP benefit adjustments are pushing more families to seek support from community pantries and churches.

Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green, Garfield Unity Pantry, and North Carolina’s regional food banks all play critical roles in helping families stay nourished during challenging times.

Crispy Green remains committed to supporting these efforts year-round through donations, volunteerism, and meaningful partnerships.
