Food is more than just fuel—it’s comfort, creativity, and the key to a healthier, more energized life. And for Kaysha Quiles, RD, it’s also her passion.
As the Manager of Nutrition and Wellness for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Kaysha helps people navigate the world of nutrition confidently, showing them how food can transform their health and mindset.
From Food Lover to Nutrition Expert
Kaysha’s journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian started with a deep fascination with food—not just its flavors but its incredible power to nourish and heal.
“I wanted to take what I love most about food and use it to make a positive impact on others.”
So, she earned her Foods & Nutrition degree with a concentration in Dietetics from Saint Elizabeth University, then completed her 1,200-hour dietetic internship at Cedar Crest College. Now, she works remotely from New Jersey, helping people across the country make informed, science-based choices for better health.
Helping People Find Food Freedom
For Kaysha, the best part of her job isn’t just helping people eat healthier—it’s watching them build confidence in their food choices.
“It’s incredible to see people shift their mindset and realize they have control over their well-being. When they feel the difference food makes in their energy, mood, and overall health, it’s like unlocking a new superpower!”
And the best part? It’s not about restriction—it’s about adding more good stuff to your plate.
Kaysha’s #1 Nutrition Tip
🚀 Focus on what you can add, not what you have to take away.
Instead of obsessing over cutting things out, Kaysha encourages people to add more whole, nutrient-dense foods—fruits, veggies, whole grains, and quality proteins—to their meals. This simple shift makes healthy eating feel positive, sustainable, and way less stressful.
The Truth About Diabetes and Diets
What’s a trending consumer question?
💡 “What’s the best diet for my diabetes?”
Her answer: There’s no one-size-fits-all diet. The ADA focuses on flexible meal patterns, which have been scientifically proven to help with diabetes management. Following the Diabetes Plate — half your plate filled with non-starchy vegetables, ¼ lean protein, ¼ complex carbohydrates.
Kaysha’s Go-To Quick Meal

Short on time? Kaysha swears by a balanced bowl:
✅ Base: Quinoa or brown rice
✅ Protein: Grilled chicken, chickpeas, or tofu
✅ Veggies: Leafy greens, bell peppers, cucumbers—whatever’s on hand!
✅ Dressing: Olive oil, lemon, herbs, and spices
It’s fast, satisfying, and nutrient-packed—a perfect meal when you need something quick but nourishing.
Her Must-Have Product? A Fun Water Bottle!
Hydration is key for overall health, and Kaysha always recommends a reusable water bottle to help make drinking water a habit. Bonus points if it has motivational time markers to keep you on track!
What Most People Don’t Know About RDs
If you think working with a dietitian means being told what not to eat, think again.
“It’s not about strict food rules—it’s about finding what works for you!”
Kaysha takes the time to understand her clients’ goals, preferences, and lifestyles, helping them create realistic, long-lasting changes that empower them rather than restrict them.
