Are you one of those people that dread having to drive to the gym every day, taking up about 30 to 45 minutes of your time? If so, keep reading to find out some exercise ideas for summer that don’t include going to the gym! And of course, some useful tips for a fun, healthy, and easy summer. There are many ways you can incorporate exercise on a day to day basis without even realizing it! Check out our fun, calorie-burning ideas below.

Go for a walk on the beach

Who doesn’t love a nice walk with a view? Whether you’re at the beach with your friends, family, or significant other, make some time for a power walk on your summer beach day. You’ll probably end up walking more after getting distracted with a good conversation! Aside from having a view of the beautiful ocean and having fun people watching, believe it or not, you’re burning calories. Walking on sand requires more effort and your muscles will work harder versus walking on concrete or a treadmill. And if you get too hot, you have the ocean right next to you to cool off! It’s a win-win.

Go golfing

Golfing is a summer exercise too!? Well yes, golf is considered a full body workout. You are working out your legs and your arms at the same time. A strong core is a vital component for professional golfers to have as well, which is why a couple hours can leave you feeling sore. Not only when you’re walking from each location, but also when swinging those arms! Make sure to pick up your club and get to golfing this summer!

Dance to some hip-hop

Have a dance party with your friends! Turn up the volume and get your body moving. Instead of having a dinner party, why not have a dance party? You can have some fun and burn calories at the same time. Experts say that 60 minutes of hip-hop dancing can burn up to 610 calories, depending on how much you weigh. You will be drenched in sweat by the end of it, I promise!

Do yard work

As the summertime rolls in, yard work is a great idea to make your garden look pretty and get some exercise in throughout the day. It requires a lot of squatting, balancing, and using those arms to dig! Nothing better than getting a workout in while also making your neighbors envy you for your striking garden! Your little ones can help too, so you’re also adding some quality family time in the mix! Not only are you exercising and working those muscles, but you’ll also get the benefits of soaking up some Vitamin D at the same time. Again, it’s a win-win for all!

Take the stairs

Forget the Stairmaster! Take the stairs whenever you’re out and about! Why spend your day inside a gym, dreading those 20 or 30 minutes of cardio. . . when in reality, all you have to do is take the actual stairs. Next time you go shopping, don’t hesitate and take the escalator. Every step counts! And if you’re feeling spontaneous, try walking at a faster speed than you normally do. That will for sure get your heart rate up. Always take advantage of every scenario you never know when you will come up with some of your own exercise ideas for summer. Just remember to stay active!
